Future application and map data upgrades?
Solution:
[--- UPDATED: 3/31/2006 5:44:28 PM BY AGENT: OnCourse Team ---] New Map for your OnCourse Navigator Q: Why do I need a new map? A: With up to 20% of the road network changing each year, your NAVTEQ maps are updated twice a year. It's the only way to ensure you have the latest, most accurate information to help you enjoy a smoother, more relaxing journey.
NAVTEQ technically offers about 4 editions per year but each map edition must be properly integrated and tested (because they introduce new road attributes, etc).
Q: Why not give each edition to customers (you would ask)? A: No because our policy is to release our next version (aka OCN6) navigation software along with the latest "stable" map edition available. Each map edition from NAVTEQ requires new map loyalty fees, which many uses would not want to spent.
Q: How Can I Make Certain I Have the Latest Map Data? A: It is important to make certain that you have registered your product with a VALID email so that you will be notified as soon as new map updates are available for purchase.
Q: How do I get a new application upgrade? A: You will automatically receive new application when you buy the new map.
Q: How often are new releases available? A: The maps are updated once every year.

For Canadian, International (including Western European countries), we ship via FedEx International Priority (24 to 48 hrs delivery) and rates varies depending on country selected. All shipping rates will be advised as you purchase the product online.
Q: How do I know when the next map is available? A: Based on the email address use in your software registration form, we will automatically be notified via an email invitation.
Q: Is the software downloadable or available as a download? A: No, as the map data for North America comes in 4 CDs in total (2 for base map and 2 for pre-exported map)
Q: How do I know which version I currently have? A: Start OnCourse Navigator from your PDA and tap on Settings, tap on Right Arrow located on the top to scroll to Product information page. The current version and date you are currently running will be shown on this page.
Q: What is the version number for the latest map release available? A: The latest navigation system map and software CD version is 4.2 dated Oct 18, 2004.
Q: What is the version number for the previous release? A: The current version is the latest we are shipping and it's version 4.2 dated Oct 18, 2004.
Q: Is the OnCourse Navigator 4 available in any other language than English? A: Yes, it's also available in French and Spanish.
Q: What does the upgrade to OnCourse Navigator 4 cost? A: Price is set at US$99.95
Q: When will you release the next upgrade? A: Major version is release on an annual basis along with new map data that runs on that new version.
Q: Why am I required to buy the complete software and map data upgrade when I only needed to update my map data? A: Each new map data from NAVTEQ has new road attributes that requires a new navigation software to fully maximize these new road attributes.
Question: Can I buy the software seperately as I already own a GPS Receiver from my existing system?
Can I buy the software seperately as I already own a GPS Receiver from my existing system?

Question: Why can't I find a street/address/location?
Why can't I find a street/address/location?
Solution:
While map data is continually updated, it is possible that you may find some discrepancies in the map data, particularly for new addresses or streets. It is for this reason that it is important to register to ensure you are notified of the latest updates.
Question: Intro to GPS
How does GPS work and do I have to pay a monthly / yearly subscription fees?
Solution:
Navigation is one of the most interesting applications for PDA's (Personal Digital Assistat). Because of its size, the PDA has become the leading platform for our navigation solutions.
What's happening in the background?
All navigation systems (on land, water or in the air) use the GPS signal for positioning. This satellite supported Global Positioning System was developed by the US army and can be used free of charge by using a special GPS receiver.
A total of 24 satellites (3 of which are inactive back-ups) circle the earth and send out signals which make positioning possible. The high quality technology used in our GPS receivers enables a positioning with an accuracy of a few metres.
Yet positioning alone doesn't enable navigation.
You may be familiar with route planners, which enable you to plan a route from A to B. With a printed map or directions you then need to follow that route. A process which is very uncomfortable as we know from experience.
Navigation is much more comfortable.
The digital maps we use in our navigation solutions include a lot more data that we can use in order to guide you to your destination. The main difference is that you only need to enter your destination(s), since the software determines your position via the GPS signal. A few seconds after you have entered your destination(s) you receive the calculated route and an estimated arrival time. While driving, optical and voice output enable you to see your current position on the map and you will receive an appropriate signal when you need to change direction. You can concentrate on the traffic without having to look at maps or printed directions.
Something unexpected has happened! Despite the directions, you have taken a wrong turn. Lean back and relax, our GPS receiver has already noticed and will recalculate the route accordingly.
You are running out of fuel or youre hungry? No problem, because you can see so called "points of special interest (POI), like gas stations, fast food restaurants etc. on the map while driving. If you are looking for the nearest POI, you can do so in the perimeter search. By the way: there are several hundred thousand POI in our navigation software.
Question: International Orders
When will my international order ship?
Solution:
We reserve up to 3 business days for verifying and processing international orders before shipping.
Shipping rates are based on your destination country and weight of your order.
