Welcome!

There is a free tool available from NAVIFriends.com called POIConfigurator. It is a desktop program that compiles your own set of Point of Interest and then you can copy the generated files to your OnCourse Navigator folders on your PDA.

You will need to install 2 other small programs to your PDA in order to get Visual and Voice alert as soon as one of your POI is close to the route you are travelling. Please see more screen captures in the links below.

You will also need to install these programs to your PDA:
a) POIObserver.exe (about 275kb in size)
b) VirtComMgr.exe (about 265kb in size)

This is very new and we are in the process of creating a user guide at the moment. There are some guides already written by NaviFriends.com.

We are working on the All-In-One consolidated English Version of the Setup Guide. It should be ready by end of the month.
BTW: English version of the guide should be there as well. Please check again.

Please stay tuned...

Where do I find a (correction... *the*) database of POIs for the US, or individual states in the US, or individual counties in the US, that are compatible with POIConfigurator (i.e. .nav or .asc format)?  It's frustrating not to see as many POIs as I'd like... for example Target or Wal-mart, which should be standard POIs.

Hi signothefish,

A lot of these files are in the *.ov2 format, this is a POI format used for TomTom.

You can find a free software to convert these files to the *.asc format on the following url:
http://www.poiedit.com/

Visit also the forum

Thanks for the hint about poiedit. But where to find, say WalMart and TacoBell, locations in that format?

Thanks,
Frank
